It’s time I formally introduced all of you to our new gracious host.

First, like my sweater? Found it on the clearance rack at The Gap. It’s part silk. Love it.

Second, that green blur to my left? Meet the Wicked Mr. Wilson Pickett. He’s still, um, learning that he is, in fact, flighted, which means he tends to sort of fling himself into the air, flap around in one spot for a few seconds, and then drop to the floor. This is me trying to offer him a more parakeet-friendly place to land. One tends to assume that birds are graceful, quiet, delicate creatures, right? Have you ever seen one do a faceplant in the bottom of his cage because he doesn’t know that he can stop himself from falling? Yeah.

Wilson has been a marvelous calming influence on Marvin. As a result, we have been able to capture him on film at close range as of late. They’re like John and Yoko, in that they insist on grooming one another incessantly and show affection by vomiting into each other’s mouths. Wait, do I have that right? Or am I thinking of Syd and Nancy? I always get them confused…

Even though we’re only a touch over a month into our relationship with our new gracious host, we think it’s safe to say that he’s going to fit right in. Don’t you think so, too?
